Undoubtedly 2021 was the most chaotic year in the recent history of global transportation. Asia-US container pricing went up to over $20,000/ FEU, which was 6-7 times compared with pre-covid prices. Ports were jammed and vessel schedule reliability dropped to under 40%, causing massive delays. Many retailers suffered from empty shelves and were desperate to get their products to the stores.
During the pandemic period, even airing goods was not that reliable and it consistently took over 20 days for products to reach their final destination. Thanks to the collaboration between the MGF Logistics team and our partners, we were able to secure four exclusive chartered flights to move over 400 tons of products from Vietnam to US in the 3rd quarter of 2021.
All four chartered flights landed on time without any issues. The total air transit time was shortened from over 20 days to less than 10 days. The air rate for the chartered flights was also 15-20 % less than the market air rate.
